  1. MEDICAL SCHOOL (Senior Lecturers and Lecturers)

Areas of Specialization and Minimum Requirements

  1. Ophthalmologist
    Must have a PhD degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university

Or

  • MBChB or its equivalent from a recognized university 
  • MMed degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution in Ophthalmology with 3 years teaching/industry/research experience.
  • At least sixteen (16) publication points and 8 from referred journals
  • Expected to have registered for a Ph.D degree in the relevant discipline
  • Registered by the Kenya Medical and Dental Practitioners Council

    2. Human Anatomy 
  • Must have a PhD degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university

Or

  • MBChB or its equivalent from a recognized university 
  • MSc degree in Human Anatomy or its equivalent from a recognized institution 

with 3 years teaching/industry/research experience.

  • At least sixteen (16) publication points and 8 from referred journals
  • Expected to have registered for a Ph.D degree in the relevant discipline
  • Registered by the Kenya Medical and Dental Practitioners Council

    3. Medical Physiology
  • Must have a PhD degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university

Or

  • MBChB or its equivalent from a recognized university 
  • MSc degree in Physiology or its equivalent from a recognized institution with 3 years teaching/industry/research experience.
  • At least sixteen (16) publication points and 8 from referred journals
  • Expected to have registered for a Ph.D degree in the relevant discipline
  • Registered by the Kenya Medical and Dental Practitioners Council

    4. Surgery
  • Must have a PhD degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university

Or

  • MBChB or its equivalent from a recognized University.
  • MMed Surgery or its equivalent from a recognized University with 3 years teaching/industry/research experience.
  • At least sixteen (16) publication points and 8 from referred journals
  • Expected to have registered for a PhD degree in the relevant discipline
  • Registered by the Kenya Medical and Dental Practitioners Council

    5. Psychiatry and Mental Health
  • Must have a PhD degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university

Or

  • MBChB or its equivalent from a recognized University.
  • MMed Psychiatry or its equivalent from a recognized University with 3 years teaching/industry/research experience.
  • At least sixteen (16) publication points and 8 from referred journals
  • Expected to have registered for a PhD degree in the relevant discipline
  • Sub-specialty in Adolescent, Substance abuse, Paediatric, Family or organizational psychiatry will be an added advantage.
  • Registered by the Kenya Medical and Dental Practitioners Council

    6. Medical Laboratory Sciences
  • Must have a PhD degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university

Or

  • Master of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences with a sub-specialty in either Histology and Cytology, Medical Parasitology, Clinical Pathology & Laboratory Diagnosis with 3 years teaching/industry/research experience.
  • At least sixteen (16) publication points and 8 from referred journals
  • Registered by Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians & Technologists Board (KMLTTB)

    SCHOOL OF PURE AND APPLIED SCIENCES
  1. Tutorial Fellow (Actuarial Science)
  • Bachelor and Master’s degree in Actuarial Science from a recognized university
  • Have at least four Core Technical papers (CTs).
  • Be registrable/registered for Ph. D degree in relevant discipline
  • Registered with the relevant professional body

    SCHOOL OF PHARMACY

    1. Senior Lecturer (Pharmaceutical Chemistry/ Pharmacology/ Pharmacognosy/Clinical Pharmacy)
  1. Must have a PhD degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university

                           or

  • Master’s degree in relevant field with at least seven (7) years teaching at a University, four (4) of which should be as a Lecturer.
  • Minimum of 24 publications points since last promotion, of which at least 16 should be from refereed scholarly journals.
  • Supervised a minimum of three (3) postgraduate students
  • Registered with the relevant professional body

    2. Lecturers (Pharmaceutical Chemistry/ Pharmacology/ Pharmacognosy)
  • Must be holders of a PhD degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized university

or

  • Master degree in relevant discipline with 3 years teaching/industry/research experience.
  • Expected to have registered for a Ph.D degree in the relevant discipline
  • At least sixteen (16) publication points and 8 from referred journals
  • Registered with the relevant professional body

    SCHOOL OF CLINICAL MEDICINE

AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. Clinical Medicine (Lecturers)
    1. PhD with Masters in Clinical Medicine or Masters in Medicine in any specialization

or

Masters in Clinical Medicine or Masters in Medicine in any specialization with 3 years teaching/industry/research experience.

or

  • BSc. in Clinical Medicine and a Master’s of Science in Community Health, Public Health, Health Services management, Medical sociology or any other relevant degree recognized in the scheme of service with 3 years teaching/industry/research experience.
    • At least sixteen (16) publication points and eight (8) from referred journals
    • Be registrable/registered for Ph. D degree in relevant discipline
    • Be registered with the Clinical Officers Council

      2.Clinical Medicine (Tutorial Fellow)
  • Masters in Clinical Medicine or Masters in Medicine in any specialization

or

  • BSc. in Clinical Medicine and a Masters of Science in Community Health, Public Health, Health Services Management and Medical Sociology
  • Expected to have registered/be registerable for a Ph. D degree in relevant discipline in the relevant discipline
  • Be registered with the Clinical Officers Council

    3. Clinical Instructors/ Graduate Assistants
  • Bachelor of Science in Clinical Medicine or Higher Diploma in Clinical Medicine, with BSc. in Community Health, Public Health, Health Services Management, Medical Sociology or any other relevant degree with at least an Upper Second Class honours.
  • Be registerable/registered for a Master’s Degree in relevant field
  • Be registered with the Clinical Officers Council

    4. Health Records (Lecturers)
  • PhD in relevant area in Health/Medicine and Masters of Science in Health Records, Health Information Systems or Information technology

or

  • Master degree in relevant discipline with 3 years teaching/industry/research experience.
  • Be registrable/registered for Ph. D degree in relevant discipline
  • Registered with the relevant professional body
  • At least sixteen (16) publication points and eight (8) from referred journals

    5. Health Records (Tutorial Fellow)
  • BSc. in Health Records and Information Management with Masters of Science in Health Records, Health Information Systems or Information Technology
  • Be registrable/registered for Ph. D degree in relevant discipline
  • Be registered with the relevant professional body.
