Multimedia Technologist, Janitor, Laundry Attendant and Farm Assistant

The University wishes to recruit qualified persons to fill vacant positions for the position of Multi-Media Technologist, Janitor, Laundry Attendant and Farm Assistant.

1.  Multimedia Technologist

Working under the direction of the Chief Technologist the Multimedia Technologist will be expected to;

  1. Developing content for the L.E.D screens within the University.
  2. Digitalizing speeches to be read during major University events via the teleprompter.
  3. Providing technical support to academic, advertisement and broadcasting programmes.
  4. Operating sound system set up of portable video and mixed audio systems, public address system among others during MKU events.
  5. Plan and conduct video/audio recording and production for the university and maintain a library of all the events on campus.
  6. Assist the Chief Technologist with the assembly of University publications, including university newsletter.
  7. Manage Multimedia department equipment utilization and circulation process.
  8. Develop and maintain library of department produced videotapes for the University.
  9. Duplication of video and audio material for the Media department.
  10. Provide high-level technical support, troubleshooting techniques, and demonstrations for faculty and staff regarding hardware, software, network systems.
  11. Maintain specific technology equipment (i.e., PCs, MACs, digital cameras, laptop computers.
  12. To perform any other duty that may be assigned by the immediate

Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Competences

  1. Must possess Diploma in Journalism or Information Technology from a recognized Institution.
  2. Proven knowledge in video and audio editing, knowledge in digital sound operation.
  3. Accomplished writer of news and feature stories
  4. Vast knowledge in operation of studio equipment
  5. 3 years of experience

2. Janitor

Working under the direction of the Manager, CCAS the Janitor will be expected to;

  1. To allocate rooms to students
  2. To ensure hostels are clean at all times
  3. To create an accommodation enabling environment
  4. To control in and out flow of students
  5. To report on need for maintenance
  6. To ensure safety in the hostels
  7. To promote students welfare
  8. To be the custodian of CCAS assets and equipment’s.
  9. To perform any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Competences

  1. Must possess Diploma in Housekeeping or Accommodation Services or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
  2. Must be Computer literate
  3. 5 years of experience in housekeeping or accommodation services
  4. Must be a mature female with high degree of integrity and moral standards
  5. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  6. Ability to guide, counsel and mentor students
  7. Be ready to work within flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.

 

3. Laundry Attendant

Working under the direction of the Laundry Supervisor the Laundry Attendant will be expected to;

  1. Ensure timely delivery of university linen cleaning
  2. Be responsible for outside guest laundry
  3. To count and verify all items brought to the laundry and ensure the clients or representative acknowledges any stains, damages; missing buttons and any other unusual thing on the item.
  4. Be responsible for proper recording and tagging of client’s items
  5. To report immediately to the supervisor any valuable items like cash, jewels, credit cards etc. found in guests’ cloth pockets.
  6. Be responsible for cleaning the client’s items on the correct equipment /machines using the appropriate chemicals and temperature.
  7. Be responsible for sorting all items brought to the laundry.
  8. Retrieve folded linens and stacks or hangs clean linens as appropriate
  9. Responsible for loading and unloading of dryers and sort out washed laundry items
  10. Operate and maintain all laundry equipment and machines
  11. Report any technical problems or deficiencies to the Laundry supervisor
  12. To perform any other duty that may be assigned by the immediate supervisor

Minimum Qualifications, skills and Competences

  1. Must possess Diploma in Housekeeping or Accommodation Services or its equivalent from a recognized institution
  2. Must be Computer Literate
  3. 3 years of experience
  4. Be ready to work within flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.

3. Farm Assistant

Working under the direction of the Nakuru Campus Registrar – Administration, Finance and Marketing will be expected to;

  1. To feed all the livestock on the farm
  2. To ensure that all the livestock stay in a clean and conducive environment
  3. To milk dairy cows, collect eggs from poultry and harvest honey
  4. To take care of the fish and harvesting mature ones from the fish pond
  5. To plant, take care and harvest mature crops
  6. To take care of all the trees on the farm and enhance general afforestation
  7. To report any need for repair and maintenance of machines and equipment
  8. To perform any other duty that may be assigned by the immediate supervisor

Minimum Qualification and Skills

  1. Must possess a certificate of Secondary Education
  2. Have at least one year experience of practical farming
  3. Be ready to work within flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
