Open vacancies at Mount Kenya University

Mount Kenya University (MKU) is a fully fledged chartered university committed to a broad-based, holistic and inclusive system of education. We are seeking to recruit competent, dynamic and ambitious professionals to fill up the following vacant positions;

MEDICAL SCHOOL

We are seeking to recruit applicants in the following areas;

             Department of Medical Physiology

  • (i). MBChB or its equivalent from a recognized University and in addition BSc. Physiology
  • (ii). MSc in Physiology (first degree MBChB or BPHARM or BDS or BSc. Physiology)Department of Surgery
  • (i). MBChB or its equivalent from a recognized University.
  • (ii). MMed Surgery or its equivalent from a recognized University
  • (iii). Registered as a Specialist by the Kenya Medical Practitioners & Dentists Board
  • (iv). A sub specialty will be an added advantageDepartment of Internal Medicine
  • (i). MBChB or its equivalent from a recognized University.
  • (ii). MMed in Internal Medicine or its equivalent from a recognized University
  • (iii). Sub-specialty in infectious diseases will be an added advantage
  • (iv). Registered as a Specialist by the Kenya Medical Practitioners & Dentists BoardDepartment of Obstetrics/Gynaecology
  • (i). MBChB or its equivalent from a recognized University.
  • (ii). MMed in Obstetrics/Gynaecology or its equivalent from a recognized University
  • (iii). Sub-specialty in Maternal fetal medicine, Gynaecology, Endocrinology & infertility will be an added advantage
  • (iv). Registered as a Specialist by the Kenya Medical Practitioners & Dentists Board

            Department of Paediatrics & Child Health

  • (i). MBChB or its equivalent from a recognized University.
  • (ii). MMed in Paediatrics & Child Health or its equivalent from a recognized University
  • (iii). Sub-specialty in Neonatology, Endocrine or Critical care
  • (iv). Registered as a Specialist by the Kenya Medical Practitioners & Dentists Board

            Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health

  • (i). MBChB or its equivalent from a recognized University.
  • (ii). MMed Psychiatry or its equivalent from a recognized University
  • (iii). Sub-specialty in Adolescent, Substance abuse, Paediatric, Family or organizational psychiatry will be an added advantage.
  • (iv). Registered as a Specialist by the Kenya Medical Practitioners & Dentists Board

 

  1. LABORATORY TECHNOLOGISTS

We are seeking to recruit applicants in the following areas of specialization;


Chemistry

  • (i). Must have a Bachelor of Science in Analytical Chemistry or a relevant field of chemistry or Diploma in analytical chemistry.
  • (ii). Must have at least 1-year experience in a research or academic institution.

             Engineering

  • (i). Must be a holder of Diploma Electrical Engineering or its equivalent.
  • (ii). Must have at least 3-years work experience from a research and academic or a relevant industrial set up.Pathology
  • (i). Must be a holder of a Higher National Diploma/Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science.
  • (ii). Must have 3 years work experience in a cytology and histology laboratory.
  • (iii). Prior experience in a university pathology laboratory will be an added advantage.
  • (iv). Registered by Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board.Medical Laboratory Science
  • (i). Must be holder of Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science from a recognized institution.
  • (ii). At least 3 years’ experience in a research or academic institution for those with Bachelor degree or six (6) for those with HND.
  • (v). Registered by Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board.

            Applied Biology

  • (i). Must be a holder of Diploma in Applied Biology from a recognized institution.
  • (ii). Must have at least 1-year experience in a research or Academic institution.

           Pharmacology

  • (i). Must be a holder of at least diploma in Applied Biology or Diploma in relevant field.
  • (ii). Must have at least 6 years work experience from a research or academic institution.
  • (iii). Prior experience in a pharmacology training laboratory will be an added advantage.
