A. SCHOOL OF SOCIAL SCIENCES
1. DIRECTOR, INSTITUTE OF SECURITY STUDIES, JUSTICE AND ETHICS
  • Developing competencies through training research, consultancy and outreach programmes towards the realization of sustainable security and just governance
  • In collaboration with academic organs of the university, develop training and academic programmes in justice, security and ethics.
  • Developing and spearheading socially and technically relevant research in justice, security and ethics.
  • Forging local and international partnerships in addressing challenges of justice, security and ethics.
  • Developing and coordinating competencies for consultancy in justice, security and ethics.
  • Coordinating community outreach programmes towards security and peace.
  • Performing administrative duties in the Institute.
  • Serving as Chairman of the Institute board.
  • Serving as chief examinations officer in the institute.
  • Making recommendations with respect to student selection and admission.
  • Taking general responsibility for all matters concerning the institute’s budgets, syllabus selection, student issues, teaching and learning.
  • Promoting and fostering academic and professional development of academic staff.
  • Providing leadership in the development, organization and delivery of curriculum.
  • Promoting and fostering research in the Institute.
  • Promoting and maintaining quality assurance learning based on the University’s Academic Quality Assurance framework.
  • Ensuring that necessary learning and teaching materials and other academic resources and facilities are available.
  • Promoting a conducive academic environment in the school.
  • Organizing public lecturers, seminars, workshops and conferences
Minimum requirements
An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in any of the following area of specialization from an accredited and recognized University;
  • Governance and Ethics
  • Security Studies
  • Law Enforcement
  • Public Administration
      OR
A Master’s degree in any of the following area of specialization from an accredited and recognized University; with at least three (3) of years teaching experience at University level;

B.  SCHOOL OF PURE AND APPLIED SCIENCES

DEPARTMENT OF ANIMAL HEALTH AND PRODUCTION
The School of Pure and Applied Sciences is seeking to recruit suitably qualified candidates for the following positions as members of faculty for the BSc Animal Health and Production Programme, BSc Animal Science Programme and BSc Agriculture and Rural Development Programme to be stationed at the Nakuru Campus.

  1. Senior Lecturer (Animal Health and Production/ Animal Science/ Agriculture and Rural Development/Aquaculture)
Requirements
  • An earned Ph.D or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized University
  • At least two (2) years university teaching experience
  • Registration with the relevant bodies
  1. Tutorial Fellow (Animal Health and Production/ Animal Science/ Agriculture and Rural Development/Aquaculture)
Requirements
  • An earned Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized University
  • At least two (2) years university teaching experience
  1. Graduate Assistant (Animal Science/Agriculture and Rural Development/Aquaculture)
Requirements
  • An earned Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized University
  • At least two (2) years university Teaching experience
C. STUDENT RECRUITMENT OFFICER
Reporting to the respective Director/Campus Registrar Finance, Administration and Marketing the Student Recruitment Officer will be expected;
  • To institutionalize and implement the university marketing policy.
  • To enhance the corporate image of the university.
  • To directly market all the university programmes.
  • To undertake frequent market surveys to understand market trends.
  • To prepare monthly marketing reports.
  • To develop a database for potential students and target groups.
  • To prepare a marketing work plan for approval by the University Management. Board.
  • To effectively deal with all matters related to public relations and customer care.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing/Business Administration/Social Sciences
  • Excellent communication skills; verbal and written
  • Internet and computer literate skills
  • At least five (5) years’ work experience as a Marketing or Sales Officer
  • Professional certification or organizational membership
4.  LABORATORY TECHNOLOGISTS
  1. Engineering
Requirements
  • Must be a holder of Diploma in Electrical Engineering or its equivalent.
  • Must have at least three (3) years’ work experience from a research/ academic or a relevant industrial set up.
  1. Medical Laboratory Science
Requirements
  • Must be holder of Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science from a recognized institution.
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in a research or academic institution for those with Bachelor degree or six (6) for those with HND.
  •  Registered by Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board.

  1. Pathology
Requirements
  • Must be a holder of a Higher National Diploma/Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science.
  • Must have three (3) years work experience in a cytology and histology laboratory.
  • Prior experience in a university pathology laboratory will be an added advantage.
  • Registered by Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board.
 5. INTERNAL AUDITOR
Provide support to the Director, Internal Audit, Assurance and Risk Management by:
  • Participate in the development of the annual audit plan.
  • Implement the annual audit plan, as approved, including as appropriate, any special tasks or projects requested by management and the audit committee.
  • Participate in the development of the annual budget for the directorate.
  • Developing audit programs and coordinates the activities of the audit program.
  • Developing of auditing procedures to assure proper fieldwork performed as per the audit plan.
  • Review of audit working papers to ensure proper documentation for all audit assignments.
  • Review of Monthly Management Accounts.
  • Issue periodic reports to the Director-Internal Audit, Assurance and Risk Management summarizing results of audit activities.
Requirements
  • Qualifications /Educational/Professional/experience)
  • Upper Second Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration or Information Technology
  • CISA, or IMIS Diploma and CPA or ACCA qualifications
  • At least 2 years working experience in a similar role.
  • Working knowledge of the audit cycle
  • Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Working knowledge of auditing commercial ERPs

6.    SYSTEM LIBRARIAN – THIKA CAMPUS

The post holder will be responsible for managing the information technology used in the library.

Key roles/responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily operation of the library’s automated systems and workstations, remaining on call at all times.
  • Design, implement, and integrate daily operations of the library’s automation and communication systems, including the innovative interfaces system, LANs, web server, internet access, telecommunications, and related evolving systems in consultation with the Deputy Director, Management Information System.
  • Design and maintain the library website as a marketing tool for library operations and services.
  • Develop and recommend policies and procedures for use of computers and computer systems in the library.
  • Manage digital repository and resources.
  • Design, plan, implement and evaluate the present and future automation needs of the library, making recommendations for implementation to the library administration.
  • Coordinate, library-wide training on use of automated systems, creating in-house documentation as needed.
  • Monitor all system functions and be responsible for proper operation.
  • To appropriately execute any other duties as directed by the University Librarian or the Deputy University Librarian.
Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Library and Information Science or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Knowledge in KOHA System.
  • Computer literate.
  • Three (3) years’ experience as a System Librarian or a similar position.
              OR
  • Bachelor of Science in Information Science or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Knowledge in KOHA System.
  • Computer literate.
  • Five (5) years’ experience as a System Librarian or a similar position.
  • Uphold sound work ethics and be highly disciplined.
  • Possessing tenacious attitude, friendly, honest, trustworthy, respectful and flexible.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision, independently or as part of a team.
7.    QUALITY ASSURANCE OFFICER AT EQUIP AFRICA INSTITUTE, THIKA CENTRE
  1. Ensuring that there is quality in curriculum development and review.
  2. Coordinating the evaluation of teaching for all university programmes (regular, distance, school based evening and weekends).
  3. Coordinating the evaluation of practicum and attachment.
  4. Ensuring that there is quality research supervision for both undergraduate and post graduate programmes.
  5. Ensuring quality in compliance to admission criteria.
  6. Ensuring effectiveness in timetabling, teaching and learning processes.
  7. Coordinating evaluation of staff publication and use of appropriate technology in service delivery.
  8. Coordinating evaluation of compliance to service charter.
  • Advising on matters related to teaching requirements.
  • Monitoring and evaluating compliance to the implementation of university policies, statutes and schedules.
  • In charge of monitoring and evaluating programmes, trainers, infrastructure, equipment and facilities and other relevant matters concerning the Institution.
  • Ensures that training shall be of quality and relevant and in accordance with the standards set out by the TVETA Board, and shall implement the objectives under TVET Act 2013.
  • Compiles M & E annual reports and submits to TVET Authority in accordance with the TVET Quality Assurance policy
 Requirements
  • A minimum qualification of a Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Education

  • Have applied for accreditation as a TVET Trainer and trained in Competence Based methodology and assessment.
  • Training and experience in Auditing of academic programmes
8.  ASSISTANT MANAGER ACADEMICS – EQUIP AFRICA INSTITUTE, THIKA CENTRE
  1. In charge of all Academic Affairs of the Institute
  2. Oversees all academic directorates and is answerable to the Manager/Principal
  3. In charge of recruitment of Trainers who have met the TVETA requirements and are competent in their areas.
  4. Recommending the appropriate trainers for unit allocations
  5. Ensures that programmes and time tables are made in time and all lessons are taught efficiently and effectively by all trainers who are highly qualified.
  6. Ensure trainees meet the minimum entry requirements for the programmes
  7. Ensure that the trainee meet requirements of external examination
  8. Ensuring that candidates meet criteria before they graduate.
Requirements
