Vacancy Advertisement in the School of Pharmacy

Mount Kenya University (MKU) is a fully fledged chartered University committed to a broad-based, holistic and inclusive system of education. The School of Pharmacy at Mount Kenya University (MKU) is the oldest private Pharmacy training institution in Kenya, having been an accredited trainer of Pharmaceutical personnel for the last 17 years. It attracts students from all over Africa. Currently, more than 20% of the Pharmacy student population is composed of international students from Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Sierra Leone, South Sudan and Nigeria. The School is accredited by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB), the Pharmacy regulatory authority in Kenya in accordance with the Pharmacy and Poisons Act (CAP 244). The

Bachelor of Pharmacy programme is also accredited by the Commission for University Education (CUE).
The School of Pharmacy is seeking to recruit suitably qualified candidates for the following positions as members of faculty for the Bachelor of Pharmacy Programme to be stationed at the Thika Campus;

1. ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR- (PHARMACOLOGY/ PHARMACOGNOSY/ PHARMACEUTICAL CHEMISTRY/ CLINICAL PHARMACY)

Requirements:

  1. An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized University
  2. At least three (3) years teaching experience as a Senior Lecturer or Senior Researcher/Industry Experience or equivalent.
  3. A minimum of forty eight (48) publication points as a Senior Lecturer or equivalent of which at least thirty two (32) should be from refereed scholarly journals
  4. Supervised a minimum of four (4) post graduate students to completion including at least one at doctoral level
  5. Attracted research or development funds as a senior lecturer/ senior research fellow
  6. Registered as a Pharmacist by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board
2.SENIOR LECTURER (PHARMACOGNOSY, CLINICAL PHARMACY, PHARMACEUTICAL CHEMISTRY/ PHARMACOLOGY)

Requirements:

  1. An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized University.
  2. At least three (3) years teaching experience as a Lecturer or six (6) years research/Industry Experience
  3. A minimum of thirty two (32) publication points as a Lecturer or equivalent of which at least twenty four (24) should be from refereed scholarly journals
  4. Supervised a minimum of three (3) post graduate students to completion as a Lecturer or equivalent
  5. Registered as a Pharmacist by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board
3. LECTURERS (CLINICAL PHARMACY/ PHARMACEUTICAL CHEMISTRY/PHARMACOLOGY / PHARMACOGNOSY)

Requirements:

  1. An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized University.
  2. Registered as a Pharmacist by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board
OR
  1. A Master’s degree in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized University
  2. With at least three (4) years teaching experience at University level or research or industry
  3. Registered as a Pharmacist by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board
4. TUTORIAL FELLOW (CLINICAL PHARMACY/ PHARMACEUTICAL CHEMISTRY/   PHARMACOLOGY / PHARMACOGNOSY) 

Requirements:

  1. Have a Bachelors and Master’s degree qualification from accredited and recognized university in the relevant field;
  2. ​Be registered for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or equivalent Doctoral Degree qualification; and
  3. Registered as a Pharmacist by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board
